Success

I am still sitting in the waiting room, but the Dr just shared with me that Karen’s surgery was a success.  He took out a little bone that was not necessary, and was pinching Karen’s tendon in her ankle.  He also looked around to make sure there was no other problem in that area.  Too bad he didn’t let me scrub in.  That sounded cool.

Now the recovery.  Praise God for good family, friends, and parishoners to help on the journey!

Blessed!

A Smile Turned Upside Down

See this amazingly beautiful smiling face.

That smile is soon to change with surgery happening tomorrow.  I hope they get it right this time!

I am thankful for my Mom, Karen’s Parents, and everyone in the Church who will be helping us out during the next couple weeks!

BLESSED! (even when a smile disappears for a little while)

A Trunk Full!

I just had a e-mail come in to me, wondering if we had a spot in the church where Food Bank food could be dropped off yet. (In my sermon on Sunday, I challenged the congregation to fill up the local food bank which was all but out of food, and did not expect much until Thanksgiving.)

Why was she wondering?

Because she said she had a TRUNK FULL of FOOD to drop off!!!

WOW!  Blessed to serve!

“Sin is in.”

That’s the quote.  “Sin is in.”  Did you see it?  It was the opening line of an article in the “Money” section of the Sunday Patriot News.  The title of the story was “Vice is Good.”  Also, an interesting line.

The article is about a mutual fund called the Vice Fund that includes different vices in the fund, such as smoking, drinking and gambling.  Evidently, in this bad economy, this vice fund is doing well, because the different markets that go into the fund are doing well.  So what does this tell me?  When we only have a little money to spend, and we have to eliminate spending from our budget, the last things that take a hit are vice types of spending.

Hmmmmmm

Let me say, it made me sad to read that article.

Can you imagine if we would take the money from just one day that is spent on any of these vices in the USA, and use it to feed starving children in the world?  Hmmmm

Any thoughts?

Blessed, sad, but Blessed!

Going on a trip?

My Daughter, Valerie got a new suitcase for her birthday.  She was so excited to have one like her big brother and sister.  She loved how big it was, and how much could fit into it.

She loved it so much, that she even went for a trip…in the suitcase.

So, lets see, I would have to pay to check my luggage, but I can save on tickets, by putting my kids in their suitcases?!

Blessed!

Football anyone?!

I played a couple awesome games of football the last couple nights in my backyard!

With who?

Andrew, Kalaina, and yes Valerie.  Needless to say, the rules were a little lax in compared to organized football, but oh how I laughed.  Valerie asked me this morning after she got out of bed if we were going to play football again today.  She said she wanted to score another HOMERUN!

BLESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st Day

First Day of School!

Andrew is in 3rd, and Kalaina goes all day to 1st grade.

Valerie’s pre-school doesn’t start for 2 weeks.

May we all lift up the schools with prayer.  Satan, stay out!

BLESSED!

The Vineyard and the Leper

I am in the books of Isaiah and Matthew right now for my devotions time.  This morning I looked at Chapter 5 of Isaiah, and Chapter 8 of Matthew.  The Song of the Vineyard is in Isaiah.  A song about God’s love for his people(the vineyard).  He loved them so much.  Did everything necessary for them to grow great fruit, to be prosperous, but they didn’t love Him back.  Why not?  Do I?

In Matthew, it is the story of Jesus and the Leper.  His love for this outcast is overwhelming.  Can you imagine the joy of the leper as he was not just healed, but loved by Jesus?

I want to know love like that in my life!  I want to both receive it, and give it!

Blessed by THE WORD and the LOVE!

My Baby Turns 4

She woke up with a smile on her face, and a skip in her step.  She looked up at me and said, “Daddy, I’m bigger today.”

My response…”Yes, you are, BUT you will always be my little girl who I love.”

Blessed by a child on her Birthday!

Away at Scout Camp

Sorry I have missed some days with my blog.

I was away with Andrew at Scout Camp.  It was the first time for both of us.  WE HAD A BLAST!

He earned many belt loops and other rewards for his work.  Archery, bb-gun, whittling, flag-football, photo…

He is already talking about next year.

What a good time with my boy!

BLESSED!
